Eisregen - Knochenkult (12/2008)

E-mail Print PDF

Now it's getting dark, gloomy and morbid - better said: Time for Eisregen!

The guys and a girl from Eisregen weren't stingy and created us an album with 10 tracks (11 in the digipack), named Knochenkult.

Songs like ‘19 Nägel Für Sophie’, ‘Treibjagd’ or ‘Das Liebe Beil’ keep what their titles seem to promise and reach the listeners' heads with the things that are going through M. Roth's mind in everyday life.

Trivium - Shogun (10/2008)

E-mail Print PDF

The 4th single release from Trivium's 4th album Shogun is called ‘Down From The Sky’.

The mixture of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, which dominated their earlier albums and Thrash Metal a la Metallica works perfectly well for the band with their 22 year-old singer Matthew Heafy.

The songs which are to be recommended besides the current single ‘Down From The Sky’ would be Kirisute Golem, Throes Of Perdition and Shogun (12 minutes play time).
The great sound is due to Nick Raskulinecz who has already produced bands like Death Angel or Marilyn Manson.

Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone (08/2008)

E-mail Print PDF

In the middle of the summer slump when festivals are being visited the most, Slipknot surprise us with a new studio album.
For Slipknot fans it’s like Christmas in August! With ‘All Hope Is Gone’ they tend to wander from New Metal to modern Death Metal.

In addition to clean vocal parts, you can find more and more guitar solos in the songs which already could be heard in their previous album.
I should not forget to mention that with this album, they have increased the amount of more melodious songs. Nobody really knows if the guys from Iowa are just getting old or just have calmed down.

Anyways, they are still able to make a lot of noise.

Postmortem - Constant Hate (11/2008)

E-mail Print PDF

After a ten years break the old school thrashers of Post Mortem are back with their release Constant Hate!

The waiting period was totally worth it for fans of Old School Metal! In addition, many people will dig songs like Killing Days, Hate Kill Destroy and Please God!

Unfortunately, I don't exactly know what to think of this sound. While listening to it for the first time, I didn't like it at all but after a couple of times, I have started to like it somehow.

There will be a moment for a bar, a beer and exactly this CD!

Amon Amarth - Twilight Of The Thundergod (09/2008)

E-mail Print PDF

With ‘Twilight Of The Thunder God’ even the last critics should be convinced by the Nordic guys from Amon Amarth!
Well, they haven't set themselves into a new light but they made an album with lots of variety which definitely makes them look good!
Vikings would surely love the title song, and also single release, ‘Twilight Of The Thunder God’, ‘Guardians Of Asgaard’ as well as ‘Varyags Of Mikalagaard’.

This CD is a must-have for Death and Viking Metal fans!

So finally you have no other choice than putting this album into your CD player and render homage to Thor, Loki and Odin!

Grand Magus - Iron Will (07/2008)

E-mail Print PDF

With their 4th album Iron Will, the band Grand Magnus from Stockholm has hit the mark.

The Swedish band around singer JB, consisting of 3 members only, has revived a piece of traditional metal with the release of their 40 minutes album. Songs like The Shadow Knows, Beyond Good And Evil or I am The North are pretty much recommendable. The lyrics follow themes such as heathendom and inquisition, which might be certainly interesting for some fans. Grand Magnus is a promising band which is likely to be heard more about in the future. Why this band is said to be “stoner”, everybody has to find out for themselves.
